What is our mission +
The idea behind this project is to build a repository of and preserving the meaning of Igbo names. This goes beyond the archiving of conventional Igbo names or suggesting baby names. We also seek to understand the onomastics of older names which often make up our surnames. We hope that this becomes a platform you can trust for Igbo names.
How can I help +
Contribute a name we’re missing, correct an entry you know better than we do, or share the project with someone documenting their own family names.
Where do the meanings come from +
Every entry is reviewed by a moderator before publishing, drawing on community contributions and known Igbo etymology.
